Lactation Consulting
Breastfeeding might be the natural way of caring for a baby, but that doesn’t mean it always comes struggle-free. Each one of us can find herself in a situation where an advice or support is needed. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!
What can I do for you?
- Show you, how to achieve the correct latch and how to help your baby in case they refuse to latch at all
- Teach you, how to tell if the baby is actually drinking milk and getting enough nutrition
- Advice how to proceed if the baby needs supplementary feeding
- Support you, if your baby is fighting with newborn jaundice
- You can reach out in case you breastfeed with nipple shields, and you wish to get rid of them
- I will help you, when you need to increase the amount of milk your baby drinks
- Advise on what to do if you’re struggling with any pain or discomfort connected to breastfeeding
- Support you, if you are going through a nursing strike
- I can show you how to breastfeed in a sling or a baby carrier
- I can help you if your baby is unhappy after breastfeeding, doesn’t sleep well or cries very often
- If you’re planning on starting your baby on solids, I can advise how to do it without disrupting breastfeeding
- You ask me questions about breastfeeding of older kids, breastfeeding in pregnancy or tandem breastfeeding
- I can show you how to combine breastfeeding with attending an older sibling
- I can offer support in case you’re forgetting your own needs
How does it work?
- First consultation usually takes about an hour to hour and a half
- I will come to your home or maternity ward
- I will hear you out, asses the actual breastfeeding and together we will create a plan to improve the situation
- In most cases we plan another visit, where we can assess the efficacy of the plan we implemented before and discuss if there are any changes needed
- I will send you an email with all the info before the first consultation
